…When They Learned I Was Going to Be Published.
1. I didn’t know you were a writer.
2. How much do you have to pay to be published?
3. I’ve always wanted to write book.
4. When is it coming out?
5. Who is the publisher?
6. That guy on the cover isn’t wearing very many clothes.
7. How much money will you make?
8. I like to write but I don’t have time.
9. Are you going to quit your job?
10. I’m so proud of you.
11. How long did it take you to write it?
12. If I buy it will you sign it for me?
13. Hey, I can say my friend is a published author!
What things have people said to you? Some things have been sweet and some things have been downright insulting. I didn’t include the sneers about romance or epublishing.
Always good to have supportive people in one’s life. They help balance out the Negative Nellies.
Supportive friends and family are awesome. Normally I get a comment along the lines of You write erotic romance????
I’ve had mostly the same comments. Well, except for number six. LOL!
Congrats! You seem to have a lot of positive people around you – that’s always a great thing, isn’t it?
Happy TT!
Many people assume because they know you, you should ‘give’ them a signed copy. Watch out for that, but it seems you have some great support.
Congrats. Happy T13!
That’s the response I normally get “Oh, great. I want a signed copy!”. Yeah, right. When you buy it, I’ll sign it. LOL.
Good for you for sharing. I haven’t told many people but they have all been supportive. Then again, most never saw the cover of “Miya”, “Unmasking Miya”, or “Memoirs of a Corporate Stress Reliever” on . Heh… Two of these titles can be found here: http://bookworld.editme.com/GLBT-RummageSale-September2010
Great list! I get all sorts of things, from “That’s so cool,” to “People actually pay money to read that kind of stuff?” LOL!
*hugs*

AWESOME!!! My best friend, on my release day, erased my name on the dry erase board (where we left messages) and wrote “Published Author”…so I wouldn’t forget it. LOL!
Glad you’re getting some support.
I’ve gotten almost all of those same comments.
I haven’t heard very much that was negative yet. Some assumed that I’m going to be rich, a few assumed that I’ll never make more than 10 bucks, but overall most folks have been supportive, said they were going to buy my book (and told me what they thought about it when they did) and that it was cool that they now know a published author.
